As I mentioned in a previous post, I was on the road this week. One thing I looked forward to when I got back to my Mac (I did the whole road-trip on my iPad, no complaints) was installing AirBuddy, the phenomenal Mac utility from iOS and macOS spelunker Guilherme Rambo.
With AirBuddy, you can simply open your AirPods case next to your Mac and see the current status right away, just like how it works on your iPhone or iPad. With just a click you’ll be instantly connected and playing your Mac's audio through your AirPods. AirBuddy does not support Apple Watch, Apple Pencil, or Apple TV remote and other similar devices. As the time of this writing, it only supports iOS devices that have been connected via Bluetooth to your Mac at least once, AirPods, AirPods case, and other W1-enabled devices such as Beats headphones. AirBuddy also provides a Notification Center widget that can display not only your AirPods battery life but also that of your Mac (assuming it’s a laptop). On top of that, any iOS device connected to that same Mac also shows up there, so long as it’s connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

Dropshelf 1 3 3 – makes dragging and dropping easier. In a nutshell, AirBuddy gives your Mac the same AirPods magic that you see on your iPhone. Open your AirPods case near your iPhone, and a popup instantly appears that shows you the battery status of your AirPods, lets you know the AirPods are ready to connect.

With AirBuddy’s helper app in place (launch the app once and the helper app is installed), that same magic happens when you open the AirPods case next to your Mac.
AirBuddy eases the friction of connecting your AirPods to your Mac. Ring menu 1 4 5 download free. No more going into Bluetooth, clicking your AirPods, then Connect, and waiting for the connection. Instead, AirBuddy sits there, waiting for you to open your AirPods case and brings up that familiar interface.
AirBuddy is $5+ (meaning you can pay more). To me, the price is worth it to support Guilherme’s spelunking efforts. It certainly is a fun experiment.

The AirBuddy app is celebrating another successful Apple week by opening up preorders on v2.0. The original, which arrived in early 2019, brought a pop-up to the Mac when a pair of AirPods were brought near — bringing simple ecosystem integration to the desktop before Apple did.

The update, which is set to arrive arrive on November 11, brings even deeper integration. At the top of the list is a quick status menu featuring all connected Apple and Beats devices. That includes the iPhone, iPad and the Apple Watch, along with other Macs that have the latest version of the $10 software installed. The devices are group together based on how they’re paired with one another — so, a set of AirPods connected to an
